what I would, and would not, give up for lent

Growing up, especially the older I got, the more I kept hearing about this thing called Lent. The only thing I knew about it was that people would give things up for it. I never knew when it was happening, or why it was happening. So this year I took it upon myself to learn more about it and give it a go. I'll start with the things that I wouldn't give up:

1. My iPhone
How would I take selfies and hundreds of other pictures? How would I keep in contact with the world? How would I survive not playing Candy Crush? I wouldn't, and that would be a shame.

2. Netflix

I must watch all seasons in a row! Don't call me, don't text me, don't interrupt me while I am watching Netflix.

3. Pinterest

I could pin for days, maybe even weeks.

4. Blogging
I would miss you guys way too much! Plus, I wouldn't know what to do with my spare time.

5. Nail Polish

6. Shopping
One word: Target.

7. Yoga pants

I practically live in yoga pants, there is no way I could give up something as comfortable as those. However, I do think that Victoria's Secret should give up their price tag and just give them all to me for free.

Here are some things that I would be more than happy to give up:

1. Swearing

Especially the fact that I often swear at the most inopportune times.

2. Potato Chips and other junk food

Working out then eating junk food cancels out the whole point of working out in the first place. It's a vicious cycle, let me tell ya!

3. Alcohol (not including wine)
I'm not much of a drinker so this would be really easy for me, but I still need to have my glass of wine on occasion!

4. Negativity
There is absolutely no benefit to negativity or putting others down, so why waste the time and energy on it?

5. Shaving
It is ridiculous the amount of time spent in the shower shaving, not to mention the price of new razor blades.

6. Periods

One minute I am crying hysterically, the next I am anxious and cleaning like my family is coming over. I get whiplash from my own mood swings.

7. Having to wash my hair every other day
Yes, I've heard of the whole messy project.. but when it makes you look homeless and someone tries to give you money while you are walking down the street it's not okay.

What would you give up for Lent? What wouldn't you give up?

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see people give up their phones for Lent. That would be hilarious and I don't think it could happen! The only time my hubby was able to give his up was when we were in Mexico and we didn't have international anything so phones stayed in St. Louis. It was a great week!

I have seen people give up Facebook and because I did't see her on a daily basis, no clue if it actually worked or not but I give people luck with that stuff they are already addicted to.

I would totally give up periods, negativity, and swearing. One year I gave up elevators, that was hard. I was always selfish when I was younger- giving up something that would help me lose weight (like chocolate) or elevators so I would get more exercise :)

Oh man, I am impressed you could give up alcohol. There are too many work days that just push me over the edge! I gave up all fried foods - regretted that immediately when I realized it included french fries.

I'm totally on board with every yay and nay. I seriously had THREE periods within a month and wanted to kill myself.
